Solid wood parquet flooring is made from timber blocks or strips, typically 15–22 mm thick, arranged in patterns such as herringbone, chevron, basket weave or Versailles. Unlike engineered parquet, each block is solid timber throughout, so wear layer depth equals board thickness and may allow several sanding cycles when thickness permits. Species choice affects hardness, grain and colour: oak offers a pale, open grain; walnut gives a darker, quieter tone. Andiwilson supports projects by reviewing species, block dimensions, moisture content, pattern, subfloor and finish before order. Installation may be secret-nail over battens, glue-down over prepared concrete or nail-down over joists, with a vapour barrier where required. Acclimatisation and subfloor moisture checks are agreed before fitting. Pattern set-out and dry-lay samples help control cutting waste and align borders with door openings. Site humidity affects movement, so expansion gaps and interior conditions should be planned. Sanding and site finishing can follow installation, and periodic refinishing may restore appearance. Andiwilson provides care notes covering dry mopping, neutral cleaner and finish inspection. Performance depends on species, site humidity and maintenance, so project teams should confirm current technical documents and installation guidance before ordering.
