01 BUILT FOR SURFACES THAT TAKE A BEATING
High pressure decorative laminate is what specifiers reach for when a surface has to look pristine and survive daily commercial traffic at the same time. Unlike standard melamine board, HPL is formed by fusing multiple layers under intense heat and physical pressure — phenolic resin-impregnated kraft paper, a decorative colour layer, and a melamine-treated wear overlay bonded into a single non-porous sheet.
That molecular fusion is the whole point. There is no open structure for water, grease or cleaning chemicals to enter, which is why the material holds up in hospitals, canteens and hotel corridors where a lesser surface delaminates within a season.
Melaminart supplies this decorative high pressure laminate sheet in two working grades: a 1.0 mm flat panel for heavy-duty horizontal and vertical surfaces, and a 0.7 mm post-forming grade that bends around a radius for seamless wrapped edges. Both run 300+ decors across solid colours, woodgrains, stone patterns and textile designs, and both colour-match into our wider board programme.

02 WHY SPECIFIERS CHOOSE HPL
Six properties that decide the specification on a commercial project.
|
Class B1 Fire Retardancy Achieves national Class B1 flame-retardant certification. The thermoset resin slows flame spread, self-extinguishes once the heat source is removed, and releases minimal smoke. |
Superior Scratch Resistance Surface hardness far exceeds standard decorative melamine board — resists micro-scratches from keys, writing instruments and heavy kitchenware. |
Chemical & Stain Resistance The sealed melamine surface blocks grease, sauces, household disinfectants and moderate acids. Spills wipe off without permanent staining. |
|
E0 / E1 Eco Rating Ultra-low formaldehyde emissions meeting E0 and E1 green building standards. Asbestos-free and radiation-free. |
300+ Decors, 20+ Textures Solid colours, woodgrain, stone grain and fabric textures, paired with matte, gloss and embossed finishes for genuine visual and tactile depth. |
Post-Formable Thin Grade The 0.7 mm grade chamfers and bends to a radius of 10× thickness, achieving corner designs and seamless wrapped edges. |
03 THREE LAYERS, ONE FUSED SHEET
The durability of a fire-resistant laminate sheet comes from how the layers are built up — and from the fact that pressure fuses them into a single non-porous body rather than a glued sandwich.
|
|
Melamine-Impregnated Overlay The crystal-clear wear layer. Provides the anti-scratch performance and resists abrasion and impact, keeping the pattern below pristine. |
|
Decorative Colour Paper Infused with melamine resin. Carries the solid tone, woodgrain, stone pattern or textile design in high definition. |
|
Phenolic Resin-Impregnated Kraft Paper The structural core. Under high pressure the phenolic resin cures into a heavy-duty matrix, delivering structural integrity, water protection and dimensional stability. |

10 QUESTIONS BUYERS ASK
Q: Can this high pressure decorative laminate be used outdoors?
A: Standard HPL is designed for interior use. For outdoor architectural facades we offer a specialised UV-resistant exterior grade — contact our sales team for custom exterior solutions.
Q: What is the correct heating method for the post-forming grade?
A: Heat the target bending strip to between 160 °C and 180 °C. This temporarily softens the phenolic resins, allowing seamless curves down to 10 times the material's thickness.
Q: Are these fire-resistant laminate sheets safe for schools and hospitals?
A: Yes. Our laminates emit virtually zero VOCs and are E0/E1 compliant, free from asbestos, heavy metals and radiation.
Q: Can you colour-match to our existing board programme?
A: Our HPL decors are colour-matched with quartz fibreboard (medical-grade panels), phenolic/compact panels and edge-banding films. Send us your reference and we will confirm the match.
